When the Winter Gets Tough

The last week or so in the springs has not been as conducive to cycle training as some might hope. Sometimes roadies will freak out when the surface of the road is less then ideal. But these are problems we all must work threw. Colorado does have a mild winter when you consider how nice the summer is hear. 300 sunny days a year is great. But if that’s not enough remember this.

When the weather gets tough, the tough go mountain biking.

Lift your spirits with pictures of the tough.

Winter is Cool too

Its easy for cycler types to get into the winter blues. Its cold, the trails aren't there and the road grime on your face nevers feel good for the complection. But the winter brings new trails and chalenges. You have never been on an adventure tell you try to ride your favriot trail in 6 inches of freshies. So just get out give'r. Here are some pictures that probably won't inspire you but its a worth a shot.

If not take, simply make some nice turns

In other news.

-Harry Precourt got dropped by "Old Man Acacia"

Dos and Don'ts of Collegiate Cycling

The last couple of days I have been spending some serious couch time with a serious lack of saddle time. I have been thinking a lot about how much fun collegiate racing is. Where else is it appropriate to finish a short track and then immediately enjoy a 40 while heckling Division I riders.

But alas not everything is perfect. That’s why I created this guide to being a Collegiate Cyclist. These Dos and Don'ts will let you know if your ready to leave the frat house for a fun filled weekend of collegiate debauchery on bikes or if you need to hang up the cleats because you shouldn't be there.

-Quallity Recovery Time is very important for the collegiate athlete

-Juggles isn't really being a good Collegiate Cyclist on its/their trainer, but Tyler managed to flat while on the a trainer so we will let it slide. Mullets by Kay are always good.

Do's
1. Spend the day before a race skiing rather then putting the legs up.
2. Eat an entire bag of Sun Chips and then spend the morning before your start on the toilet.
3. Put your Jersey on improperly while the start gun goes off and finish the race with out fixing it.
4. Tell roadies that you’re going to crash them out of the race.
5. Forget to pin your number on.

Don'ts
1. Be a 30-year-old grad student.
2. Train solely for a collegiate season
3. Complain to officials about dirt sections in a Road Race
4. Train for the Collegiate Mountain Bike Season.
5. Train for Cross Nationals and not go.

(Many of these are based off of members of the CC cycling team. You can figure out whom.)

And So it Begins

The Winter Solstice is right around the corner and that means one thing. Time to start logging those long cold miles on the bike.

This weekend Todd Nordblom and Colin Cares were so kind to invite me to ride to Deckers with them. We enjoyed some donuts at the Donut Mill in Woodland Park. Five and half hours after leaving I was glad we purchased a baker's dozen of day old donuts.

If you didn't know, Todd loves donuts more then anything else on Earth.

Zack Ramras and I also logged some mountain miles today on the shoots. That was neat.

Well, See ya Later!
